Still Got Your Back Pain?

In a global investigation on the treatment of back pain over a 3 year period and published in the medical journal The Lancet in 2018, the best minds in the world came to the conclusion that what we as a group of musculoskeletal Therapists are doing is not working. (see article below)

This same investigation made it clear that as a group of musculoskeletal therapists including Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, and others need to be reassessing the way that we treat and indeed looking hard at the results obtained.

This research paper [below] shows how the Psoas Major Muscle exerts huge compression and sheer forces on our low spine resulting in crumpling and severely shearing the lumbar spine.

In the first paper of this investigation low back pain is identified as the number one cause of disability worldwide

And it clearly highlights that the global burden of LBP is projected to increase even further in coming decades.

Already the number of years lived with disability caused by LBP has increased by 54% between 1990 and 2015.

One such lady came to me recently having had a 20 year history of back pain and was taking 12 – 15 panadol a week just to be able to do her shopping.

I take different approach to back pain treatment. My method is to assess the whole body and treat the underlying cause of back pain.

In my clinic I have a treatment method called the ‘Soaz Method’.
