Why do many Women ‘Leak’ when they work out?
This 3-year study into back pain across the globe published in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet reports that our current treatments for back pain are lacking in evidence of effectiveness. See article below
This research paper [below] shows the Psoas Major Muscle exerts huge compression and sheer forces on our low spine resulting in crumpling and severely shearing the lumbar spine.
Anatomy and biomechanics of psoas major
So apart from strengthening your pelvic floor muscles which is the commonly accepted exercise given to women with a weak bladder; I’m guessing you might also want to learn about the structures above the pelvic floor, the psoas muscles, that produce huge downward pressure onto the Pelvic floor exacerbating the problem that is never talked about.
The Psoas Muscles Create a Huge Downward Pressure On Our Bladder
So the huge downward force is why many women leak when they workout. Most workouts create intra-abdominal pressure just from lifting and jumping and it is this pressure that also creates a downward pressure over the bladder.
How We Can Help With Incontinence
In my clinic I treat the Psoas muscles a lot for Back and Pelvic pain.
In treating these muscles for Back pain, many of my clients tell me that it has greatly helped with their incontinence and I was not even aware that they had incontinence.
They tell me that they have stopped going to the gym or running, even stopped going out with friends for a walk because of the Fear of leaking. They tell me they have to wear pads when they go out for the day just in case they cough or sneeze causing leaking.
So if your one of the many women who leak when working out or experiencing this problem or you know someone who does, just pass this onto them so they can get the this information on the other contributing cause.
And lets face it, many women feel stigmatized even talking about this problem, so may hide it.
Even just lifting their own children or avoiding certain normal activities, like lifting the groceries into the car.
Let me show you about the other structures that contributes to this problem, that has helped many of my clients.
