Posture & Migraine Headaches

Migraine headaches are debilitating for those that get them regularly

These people have probably seen many specialists including neurologists, likely been to a variety of therapists, like physiotherapists or chiropractors – even specialists specialising in headaches.

They have probably had an MRI of their brain to rule out anything sinister –

Or they may be trying various things other than the mainstream medicine – perhaps different herbal potions or medication or even other therapies like Bowen, Reikki or Aromatherapy.

The people who come to me with migraine headaches have all told me they have tried many of the above or a combination of those with prescription medication.

Some have gotten a lot better with these modalities but what I hear most times is that they may get somewhat better but eventually their migraines return, and if they try to stop taking their medication then it will return or even be worse.

So what is going on here?  What is the common denominator that is firstly starting migraine headaches and then keeping them going?

Well I am going to tell you how I have been successful in helping many of these (mainly women) when they come to see me.

As with everyone who comes to see me, no matter where they are having pain or discomfort, the first place to start is to look at their POSTURE.

WHY I hear you ask – What has our posture got to do with migraine headaches?

Migraine headaches are caused by faulty posture.

When I treat people with migraines the first thing I need to find out is what their posture or alignment is like.

Most of these people have restrictions on movement all over their body.  They have leg length discrepancies, they can’t bend forward – their neck movement is extremely minimal and they have developed many adaptations in their body that they are not even aware of.

The first place to start to resolve migraines is to get them better posture.  When they have better alignment, their eyes can look straight ahead – their spine becomes straighter, so they don’t slouch causing the neck position to be moved forward out of its mid-line and creating their neck muscles to be working harder to keep the head straight.
