The elderly is my favourite age group in my patient list. I love them because they come in with such low expectations of what they are expecting to be able to achieve.

Their ADL’s (activities of daily living) are usually the most important thing for them because this dictates their quality of life. After all if some is having a problem being able to bend down to put on their socks because it is making their back pain worse or because they are so restricted then I have to wonder also what else they are having a problem doing.

What about when they go shopping? does their restrictions and back pain affect them in being able to do this or what about out in their garden

This group also is the one where sometimes one of them is also partly or even entirely being a carer for the other one. So the demand on them at this age is significant. It is also the deciding factor in their ability to be able to stay on in their own home and be independent and be able to cope for as long as they are able to.

So when I ask them what it is that they want to get from coming to us here at Posturepro they usually only have very limited expectations.

So the first thing we do here is check all of their movements and get a base line of where they are right now.

After they have been treated we redo their full body movements.  80-90% will get good to great movement changes in their body and with back pain beginning to resolve.

Some even say they feel like they are moving like they were in their 20’s

I agree.
